How we do it

Light a garden well and you get an extra room from October to March. Light it badly and it looks like a car park. We keep it simple: light the steps and paths so they are safe, pick out two or three plants or a tree, and leave the rest dark.

We plan lighting with the design, because the cheapest time to run a cable is before the patio goes down. All our fittings are 12 V low-voltage, marine-grade brass or stainless, and the mains connection is made by a certified electrician who is named on your quote.

A typical scheme of eight to twelve fittings on a patio and path costs £1,800 to £2,900. Adding lighting to an existing garden is possible and costs a little more, because cables have to go under what is already there.
